Well with YouTube you’re in luck – as of the date of this post, there have been no changes to the Channel Uploads RSS feed. It has just been hidden from your browser’s “Subscribe” feature. All you have to do is take the existing YouTube Channel Uploads subscription in your feed reading software, and copy and paste into a new one with the channel name changed.

NOTE: These instructions only apply to the Channel Uploads feed.

The Channel Uploads feed for YouTube user HowToVanish is:

http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/users/howtovanish/uploads?alt=rss&v=2&orderby=published&client=ytapi-youtube-profile

Replace “howtovanish” in the above example with the name of the channel you wish to subscribe to, and you have that channel’s RSS feed.

I had been wanting to do this for a while, as the old theme’s color scheme was rather dark and grim, and the fonts were unusual for a Web site. I couldn’t just “switch the theme” as I had built up on the theme quite a lot. So I eventually decided to focus on the two stylesheets – few changes were done to the actual theme.

I had been working on this for over a week during my spare time.

I was able to completely sever the two stylesheets from the original theme, enabling me to start from scratch and avoid being forced into the GPL. As of the date of this post, the two new stylesheets are fully copyrighted.

(The blackout on the X-Cop Fly Company blog started a few hours late for EST people such as myself, since the plugin I used here had a bug, and I could not upgrade to the fixed version until I woke up yesterday. Rogue Central @ coredumpcentral.org followed the full 8AM-8PM EST blackout.)

Why did I not announce this? Especially after posting material from Rogue Central @ coredumpcentral.org on the VOGONS forum just a few hours prior?

This was done deliberately. When you give the President dictatorial powers over the Internet, your business will just freeze. All financial transactions will be put on hold, including the ability to hire a lawyer. Already Obama has shut down thousands of domains using assumed nonexistent power. Many of these sites had a valid legal case, with Obama refusing to show any justification for his actions.

SOPA/PIPA is being sold in terms of how and when the MAFIAA will use it for copyright purposes. But the real issue is the amount of power given to the President over any business he feels like targeting, a further moving America away from capitalism and towards government-managed Hitler/Mussolini/FDR fascism. SOPA/PIPA enables the President to cut off any enterprise’s commercial activity (including hiring lawyers) and seize any property he wants.

SOPA/PIPA also subliminally targets Wikileaks-like organizations, since they often host copyrighted material as well as material exposing the fallibility of the governments of the world, and were subject to similar cutoffs from capitalism.

In other words, SOPA/PIPA gives dictatorial powers to one man. Obama has already seized banks, investments, and car companies, it’s only natural that he wants to seize the establishment’s biggest enemy, the Internet, and anything else he feels like seizing.

Fortunately I like to keep at least one spare piece of hardware in case the one I have breaks. You might have heard me mention a 2003 Dell computer used for emergencies.

I don’t know who owned this 4:3 monitor. Probably came free with a Dell computer my parents or sister must’ve bought at some point. It’s LCD but it isn’t widescreen. Two choices: 800×600 or 1024×768.

Very annoying. Windows are crammed and have to be resized. I’d have to reconfigure game settings and would rather wait for a widescreen to watch DVDs I just bought myself for Christmas.

Though I do see that xcopfly.com works with 4:3, as well as the “work-in-progress” version (not yet in a completely working state, but you can see my progress if you are clever enough to find how to turn it on And I guess that’s good.

A new monitor is on the way, probably tomorrow, weather permitting It’s LED backlit, and 16:9 rather than 16:10, gives me both DVI and an analog VGA port for the 2003 machine.

Yes I was very disappointed with Mitt Romney’s 8-vote lead over Rick Santorum.

I was happy though that Rick Santorum got so high, he a least has a Religious Right background to his neoconism.

I was happy that Ron Paul got 3rd place, defeating the anti-deregulation “New” Gingrich.

I was happy to see Ron Paul bring up Cpl. Jesse Thorsen to speak during Ron’s speech, a soldier who was a convenient victim of “technical difficulties” which spread rapidly throughout the Internet within only a few minutes.

But not happy about this at all.

I was unhappy that “New” Gingrich, who came in below Ron Paul at 4th, during his speech, acted sour and criticized Ron Paul rather than offering anything useful to his supporters.

I have mixed feelings about Michele Bachmann’s resignation. While I have respect for her, and she would be my second choice, her resignation could help bring up Ron Paul’s numbers, my first choice.

And most importantly, I was happy that of the pledged Iowa delegates, Ron Paul got the same amount as Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney. It’s a great start for an exceptional candidate.

BTW I’m dumping the auto-tagging. It’s been terrible since I started with it.

WordPress took down Bare Naked Islam Blog today after threats from CAIR.

Quoting PR Newswire:

CAIR said visitors to “Bare Naked Islam,” hosted by WordPress.com, now see the message: “barenakedislam.wordpress.com is no longer available. This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service.”

[NOTE: "Bare Naked Islam" was one of the major promoters of the campaign to pressure Lowe's to drops its ads from TLC's "All-American Muslim."]

Last month, CAIR called on the FBI to investigate the threats of violence targeting mosques posted on the blog and urged WordPress.com to remove it for violating the hosting company’s terms of service (TOS), which prohibit blogs that “contain threats or incite violence towards individuals or entities.” [note: these were comments by visitors, not blog posts]

Three posts (1 2 3) on Bare Naked Islam’s Twitter page read:

If you’re like me, you’re probably pissed off that the crucial Firefox extension Adblock Plus, with its new Version 2 has become crippled by a sleazy payoff to allow “non-intrusive” advertising from a whitelist maintained by the developer. “75% of users agree” with yet another tech-industry sellout based on some alleged “user survey”.

Quotes from the help file:

Which ads are “acceptable”?

We currently have the following requirements:

• Static advertisements only (no animations, sounds or similar)
• Preferably text only, no attention-grabbing images
• At most one script that will delay page load (in particular, only a single DNS request)

These criteria are not final, we are working on improving them. In particular, we want to require that user’s privacy is respected (mandatory Do Not Track support). However, we are not yet in a position to enforce that requirement.

How can I see what you are allowing?

The “Allow non-intrusive advertising” checkbox simply adds one more filter subscription to your list.

And while you can disable this “checkbox”, the whitelist remains available at:

easylist-downloads dot adblockplus dot org slash exceptionrules dot txt

As of the date of this post, the whitelist includes (of course) one of the major godmothers of all tech-industry whores, Google, and a few other advertisers like Sedo’s domain parking.

However, if you don’t trust the “checkbox”, you may stop Adblock Plus from polling the whitelist.
This has been tested on Firefox 8.0 and Adblock Plus 2.0.1.

1. First disable the “Allow non-intrusive advertising” checkbox in Adblock Plus’s Filter Preferences.
2. In your Firefox URL bar, type “about:config” and press Enter. If you get a message about “voiding your warranty”, ignore that and proceed.
3. In “Filter”, type in “extensions.adblockplus.subscriptions_exceptionsurl”. This Preference Name, with Value showing the whitelist URL, should appear
4. Right-click the “extensions.adblockplus.subscriptions_exceptionsurl” under Preference Name, and click Modify.
5. Delete all the text in the dialog that pops up (usually pressing Backspace will clear it completely)
6. Click OK, close, and restart Firefox.
7. Enjoy the privacy, control, choice, and browsing experience Adblock Plus once gave you!

I also suggest that in addition to Easylist, you use unofficial lists such as Fanboy’s:

I was very shocked and hurt by what I was told yesterday. You’d expect the opposite given the circumstances.

You know, I was thinking, All my life I tried to do my best. Maybe I should just try to do and things will be a lot better. So it might be the same “not-quite” as everything else I’ve ever done. At least I managed to get what I’ve done so far, and thinking about it, that’s pretty damn good.
