At the beginning of the video, an airplane’s-eye-view literally crashes into the literal WTC and literally breaks glass! Also note the creepy camera angles; sped-up images of stairs, elevators and windows; patriotic-sounding hooks; and use of the words “hero” and “soldier” in the lyrics. This music video is really creepy!

As with Hurricane Irene last summer, here we had a nasty snowstorm and over a day of not only frequent flickering power outages, but this strange permanent brownout causing only lamp bulbs and alarm clocks to work. I took out the Kill-A-Watt to measure the voltage, which read ~95V (rather than the ~120V it’s supposed [...]

I decided today to increase the “journal” portion of this site to a regular thing. The news and politics and funny pictures and videos won’t go away, and there will still probably be more of those than journal entries, but I think it’s a great way to add stuff to the public domain, whereas these [...]

In one of my previous posts regarding the Ground Zero mosque, I mentioned Catholic blogger Mark Shea and his support and comparison to restricting protests against Planned Parenthood. Tonight, I left the following comment on his blog (entitled Catholic & Enjoying It, which I also just added to my blogroll): What’s the difference between the [...]

I had posted my blog post I made on Aug 18, which included a video and petition opposing construction of a mosque near the WTC, to several mailing lists and newsgroups I am on. It seems that more people agreed with construction than I thought. Most criticism comes from a Catholic Yahoo group, where many [...]

From Fox News: Greek Orthodox leaders trying to rebuild the only church destroyed in the Sept. 11 terror attacks expressed shock this week after learning, via Fox News, that government officials had killed a deal to relocate the church. The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, once a tiny, four-story building in the shadows of lower [...]

I cannot stop thinking lately about this one time in my life, just before and at the beginning of my college education. I have been obsessed with music and TV shows from that time lately, as well as pre-9/11 politics and society – these are all for some reason stuck in my mind as if [...]

Bush’s Razorblade Suitcase is always criticized and shit on. Their first album, Sixteen Stone, which contains all their classic rock radio hits, was criticized for being a set-up corporate ripoff of then-deceased Nirvana. (And while we all love the hits, it isn’t anything special. I have it.) So for their next album, Razorblade Suitcase, Bush [...]
