From BlackThisOut.com:

Attention:
Mainstream Media

We the people demand an end to your lies and refusal to admit Ron Paul is a 2012 GOP Frontrunner. On October 19th, 2011, tens of thousands of Americans shall stand together to send you a very clear message. We stand as one with Ron Paul and his mission to change the course of history. This noble struggle is one we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained.

[BlackThisOut.com] is the official website for the October 19th “Black THIS Out” Money Bomb. Black This Out refers to the mainstream media’s blackout of news coverage on Ron Paul, a 2012 GOP presidential candidate. A money bomb is a 24 hour online fundraising event, organized by the grassroots, to raise money for Ron Paul. Our goal for this moneybomb is to raise a donation total so large that it will be impossible for the media to ignore it.

No donation is ever to be made to the BlackThisOut.com website. The only purpose of this website is to collect pledges and to help spread awareness of this event, nationwide. The emails collected from those who pledge will be used to remind them to donate on the day of the money bomb and also to notify them of upcoming money bombs later in the year.

On October 19th, donate to Ron Paul at his official campaign web site.

Speak out against the old mainstream Media 1.0 and its treatment of Ron Paul.

(This was posted as a comment to a 17th-amendment-related blog and thus more tailored to it, but I still repeat the same facts again and again in every right-wing blog & message board.)

The link between the 17th and the Fed is extremely weak.

Everyone seems to always forget that the Fed did not repeal the gold standard in 1913. Nixon did so in 1971 in order to continue the welfare-warfare state.

Silver was pulled in 1965 for the same reason the penny was inverted in 1982. That preceded the removal of the gold standard by half a decade. The pre-1971 silver-clad half dollar was strictly nostalgic as it was the same 1965 law which set the timeline, not the repeal of the gold standard in 1971 (which again was done by Nixon, not the Fed).

However, there is no link whatsoever between the income tax and either of those things. The income tax simply added a means of revenue raising for the federal government which was declared unconstitutional in 1895. This case occurred almost two decades before the 16th Amendment was ratified. How the money for the welfare-warfare state is raised does not matter. In fact, the 16th amendment took a burden away from the states as the federal government could do more on its own.

This “1913″ stuff is complete nonsense and I’m getting tired of repeating the facts again and again on every blog and message board. The gold standard was pulled in 1971, not “1913″. Silver was removed in 1965 due to electronics-driven inflation, not “1913″. The federal income tax was first attempted in 1895, not “1913″.

If we are going to repeal the 17th amendment, we need to avoid this “1913″ stuff if we are going to have any credibility beyond the likes of Alex Jones and George Noory.

(Slightly abridged from something I posted to Usenet earlier tonight)

We need to cut any and all government funding of public, private, nonprofit, and academic efforts researching “curing” mental illness, autism, retardation, etc. because there is a major conflict of interest issue.

Unlike medication, which treats symptoms such as depression, anxiety, paranoia, attentiveness, etc., a “cure” implies that one’s personality would be permanently altered for life, and in order to be defined as a “cure”, it would have to be irreversible.

This creates a major problem – what is the “normal” and “sane” personality? It could be the personality that does not suffer from delusions, is capable of full social interaction, knows what type of discussion is warranted and where, and functions well in the workplace – as most people view it today. But it can also be personalities that follow all laws, do not question authority, have a materialistic lifestyle which can easily be “sold to”, someone who rejects or accepts God, the “tolerant” person. In other words, this could lead to an unexpected “standard” – a vulnerable, apathetic, and easily-manipulated person lacking free will, freedom of thought, and a free conscience.

When taken to the unborn child, we can also be born “customized” to have the biggest breasts, the perfect weight, the Hollywood body, bodies suited for porn, bodies suited for advertising and modeling, voices well-suited for TV, music, and acting. Sound familiar? Yes, it could just as well be blond hair and blue eyes. Pricing would become tied to economic class and social status as prospective parents pay for the “perfect” body and mind – or have your child face social rejection and discrimination not unlike the victims of racial segregation, Communism, World War II, and Apartheid.

But what does this all have to do with government? Wouldn’t accepting a “cure” be an individual choice?

As the price of such a surgery or other treatment will drop, insurance companies and socialized medicine would begin to force this treatment on the mentally handicapped without their consent. (One surgery, or thousands of dollars worth of prescription drugs and counseling?) There is too much money to save when an illness is no longer chronic.

As the government has the sole power to force such a treatment (through directives to programs like Medicare and Medicaid), and to permit or deny private industry to force such a treatment (through regulation of the insurance companies), there is a major conflict of interest, and all public (and hopefully private) funding of these mental, cognitive, and retardation “cure” groups should immediately stop.

Diane Medved at TownHall writes:

Help me here. What is it about “virtual goods”–imaginary own-ables in online community or commercial fake-world games–that leads Americans to shell out a projected $1.6 billion this year in our jobless economy?

Facebook hosts and profits from the virtual barnyard antics of FarmVille (75 million monthly active users) and a raft of other digital cosmos in which players pay real dollars for non-existent items that can get them ahead in play.

Which brings me back to reality: Aren’t we in a big recession? The 9.6% unemployment rate should theoretically mean less cash to spend on tangible necessities, much less made-up stuff like fertilizer for friends’ FarmVille crops.

Virtual goods certainly make sense from game-makers’ and sponsoring corporations’ point of views–they get real money in trade for game advancement which costs them nothing. This spring, 7-Eleven stores offered Farmville, YoVille and Mafia Wars points with certain fast-food purchases like Slurpees and iced coffee, points that would have cost players about $3 as virtual goods. In June, Green Giant gave away FarmVille Farm Cash with purchases of its fresh produce. Business-wise, it’s a win-win.

I’m not a current Facebook user, but have used it in the past, as well as other games which offer such real-money advancements. My reaction is simply this: I didn’t think anyone actually bought anything.

I also concur with Ms. Medved:

Maybe I just don’t get it; if not, enlighten me. Otherwise, I’d rather pursue a virtuous life than a virtual one.

I have always been offended by lotteries. Unlike casinos, there is no “fun day out”. Unlike fundraisers, there is no benefit for the needy. There are simply low-income people spending money every day, desperate to win millions of dollars, encouraged by a $5 or $10 every few months.

Well, the Consumerist (a blog I haven’t read in ages, it was just added to the blogroll) has linked to Cockeyed.com’s “Incredibly Depressing Mega Millions Lottery Simulator”.

Here is the commentary from The Consumerist:

There are lots of things that you would probably do if you won the lottery. Pay off your family members’ mortgages, fill a Jacuzzi with hot chocolate, buy a water park, or donate to your favorite blog. However, a basic understanding of math will force you to admit that there are much better places for your dollar than the lottery’s coffers. You can, however, simulate the experience of playing the lottery for decades at a time without ever spending money on a ticket. This handy web app simulates the experience of playing the same numbers in the multi-state MegaMillions game for as long as ten years.

Here are my results, using the time-honored lottery numbers passed down through one generation of my family:

You played 104 games of Mega Millions. It cost $104. You won $3.

the future, what is it? it’s frightening because there really isn’t a succeeding stage to look forward to. it gets me very upset and years ago i lost a job partly due to stress over it (there were other reasons, but that might have been all part of it). if you did things wrong back then, there are no opportunities but the next day at work. a friend told me that the issues in 2007 were due to a mixing of social and work life. my next job i kept that in mind. but to my emotional state it didnt matter. i cant be in quiet anymore without thinking bad things. this has severely damaged my faith as well, since church is generally quiet. i know i’m not alone in this, i’ve read other people in numerous situations like this. it’s like socialism – a real hard time unless everyone is a socialist. but it’s a rarity to find someone who isn’t retired and who follows god or jesus christ.. you can always learn from your mistakes but when you can’t re-apply them to the same groups of people because the situation doesnt exist. all i can think about is how many friends i upset in college and high school. but it’s years later, college is expensive, jobs are not needed and the fact that i’m 26 and hangnig around 18-21 year olds would make me seem like a sicko to people. there were a few older people back then, one of whom was in our circle, but i could be wrong about other people, and the price tag isn’t worth it either. everyone says the same thing, everyone has their problems, but nobody gets together and does anything about it. i know all this makes me sound like a hippie. but it’s embracing that which matters, such as faith, family, friends, thinking about the world and questioning it instead of apathy and impulsive mechanical living, and getting together to do all this, is the way to stop this mess.

I’ve always maintained that there is an agenda behind the media establishment’s mocking and opposing faith, religion, family, and culture – that being the lacking created by promiscuous sex, abuse of drugs and alcohol, and other superficial phenomenon creates psychological voids in one’s life, which can be temporarily “fixed” by buying the products in the commercials. Commercials have become fully integrated into the plots through product placement and embedded advertising – carefully engineering feelings of envy, lust, greed, boredom, and sadness over a fictitious happiness into a swipe of the credit card.

Well now (actually in March) Wikileaks has revealed another reason – to enable abuse of power in government. Here are excerpts from a CIA document on propaganda operations to increase support for war in Afghanistan:

Afghanistan: Sustaining West European Support for the NATO-led Mission—Why Counting on Apathy Might Not Be Enough

Public Apathy Enables Leaders To Ignore Voters

French Focused On Civilians and Refugees. Focusing on a message that ISAF benefits Afghan civilians and citing examples of concrete gains could limit and perhaps even reverse opposition to the mission. Such tailored messages could tap into acute French concern for civilians and refugees.

Conversely, messaging that dramatizes the potential adverse consequences of an ISAF defeat for Afghan civilians could leverage French (and other European) guilt for abandoning them. The prospect of the Taliban rolling back hard-won progress on girls’ education could provoke French indignation, become a rallying point for France’s largely secular public, and give voters a reason to support a good and necessary cause despite casualties.”

The French government has already made combating Afghan human trafficking networks a priority and would probably support an information campaign that a NATO defeat in Afghanistan could precipitate a refugee crisis.

For example, messages that illustrate how a defeat in Afghanistan could heighten Germany’s exposure to terrorism, opium, and refugees might help to make the war more salient to skeptics.

The same poll also found that, when respondents were reminded that President Obama himself had asked for increased deployments to Afghanistan, their support for granting this request increased dramatically

Media events that feature testimonials by Afghan women would probably be most effective if broadcast on programs that have large and disproportionately female audiences.

Here is the Wikileaks page, though the PDF file download seems to be down. You can read and download the PDF on Doxtop.com.

the internet is weird here. and it’s very hot. i hate laptops. At home it’s 99 degrees but it never reached that here. i hate the taste of hard alcohol even though the entire country likes it. there is just no sugaring out that terrible medicine taste. i’m getting kinda bored too. i was up last night watching clips from various old movies and shows. i started watching “heavy metal 2000″ for the first time but apparently part 2 was taken down due to nudity. it seemed kinda bad, bad meaning good, since it looks like an actual story unlike the first one which was bizarre. but i like the “bad”ness of the first movie. still, i’ll probably rent it. netflix has the first one available for streaming, have to watch that tonight. got this neato souvenir keychain too

Up to 1,500 jobs will be lost.

To be fair, not all of this is the government’s fault. Hospital admissions are well below capacity.

From the WPXI story: “Dr. Olivia said the necessary consolidation reflects a strategic transformation of West Penn Allegheny’s healthcare delivery system to better meet the needs of patients by addressing changes in the market and positioning the system for the full implementation of federal healthcare reform.”

Translation: Medicare and Medicaid already are short-sheeting the hospitals on billing.

In 1990, a game was released for the Sega Genesis called “Action 52″, a series of 52 arcade games which were priced as “52 games at a discount” rather than the price of a single cartridge.

The game consisted of simple arcade-style jump-and-shoot games with goofy graphics. Not a bad idea, but definitely not worth $199, regardless of inflation or the existence of Shockwave Flash.

More info here.

(I was a Super NES kid, not a Sega one, and didn’t own a SNES until two-three years later, so I didn’t fall victim to this, fortunately)

Also, as this funny video review points out, many of the games could not be continued due to inability of the character to jump or other issues caused by poor design.

In my "Spam" folder, there are always fake Notice of Underreported Income forms, originally from a fake "IRS", but now from the British HM Revenue & Customs. Yet it still uses the American form name!

Another scam deals with supposed modifications/changes/etc. to "FDIC Insurance Coverage" as if it were health or auto insurance. FDIC, as you might/should know, is a government agency which insures bank accounts up to $100,000 in the event of a bank failure. It is rarely changed and you’ll usually hear about it on TV.

All of a sudden I turn my head and left side of my ham radio transceiver’s LCD display has just gone dim! The frequency and mode are still visible, and everything else seems to work fine (though I haven’t tested transmit since my semi-homemade Morse key broke last week). But the radio being from the early 1990s, which I purchased in the late 1990s, could that mean it’s on its way out? I hope not! I bought that USED at $500! New shortwave transceivers are $1-4K!!!

(It’s an Icom IC-725 BTW.)

I went there and found cookies for almost every site I’ve ever been to since my I first set up this computer over 6 months ago.

The blog “I’m A Super” features a page with more details and privacy protecting tips. The Adobe settings page is here.

Now there’s a storm to worry about. Later
